RMK concluded an agreement with the private limited company 360 kraadi  01.12

The objective of the agreement is to ensure the sustainable use of recreation landscapes in the state forest managed by RMK, diversify recreation options provided in recreation areas and foster resource conservation values amongst those taking advantage of options for nature and forest recreation.

Under the cooperation agreement, OÜ 360 kraadi will operate in seven RMK recreation areas: the surroundings of Tallinn, North Estonia, Aegviidu-Kõrvemaa, Nõva, Hiiumaa, Saaremaa and the northern shore of Lake Peipus. The nature recreation operator will offer its clients various types of hiking, guided nature observations, games and adventures in Estonian nature.

One of RMK’s roles is to create opportunities for moving around in nature and promote the diverse use of the forest. In its way, the cooperation agreement is recognition for a business operator observing sustainable principles and helping to ensure the preservation of recreation landscapes.

RMK follows in its operations the principles of good practice of nature conservation to ensure the sustainable management of RMK’s recreation areas. In accordance with the said practice, the organisation of forest recreation strives for environmentally sustainable and litter-free movement through nature, minimising water and air pollution, and granting preference to activities that support moving around in nature by muscular effort.

The first company to conclude an analogous cooperation agreement with RMK was the highly experienced organiser of nature hikes, OÜ Matkajuht, on 29 September 2008.

RMK is a profit-making state agency established under the Forestry Act, aimed at sustainable and efficient management of the state forest. RMK grows reforestation materials, organises forestry works and is engaged in the sale of forest and timber and the upkeep of wild animals. In addition, RMK provides opportunities for hiking in nature and resting in forest recreation areas, and shapes awareness of nature. RMK manages 38% of Estonia’s forests.
