29.02.2008 - The State Forest Management Centre (RMK) selected locations for operational centres 10.10

RMK confirmed the locations of the county operational centres that will continue operating pursuant to new administration. Instead of the current 62 forest district offices, RMK will continue work in 28 operational centres; a detailed list is given in the table below.

When selecting the location for operational centres, the location and needs of people in a specific region were mainly taken into account. The goal is to guarantee a work organisation that is as smooth and resource-conserving as possible. The office network, which covers all of Estonia, ensures the presence of RMK all across Estonia, which is also important from the viewpoint of the development of rural areas.

An employee of RMK can choose their place of work according to which operational centre suits them best with its location.

The operational centres of the new structure will start work on 1 July 2008.

The forest district offices that will become vacant will be attempted to be put to use within RMK’s system – for example, as nature houses or nature education centres, but should it appear unnecessary, then in the area of government of the Ministry of the Environment. In case the offices cannot be used for state functions, the building will be transferred pursuant to the State Assets Act.
