Half-year sales turnover of RMK more than EUR 67 million 25.07

The sales turnover of the State Forest Management Centre (RMK) for the first six months of 2012 amounted to EUR 67.1 million, which is on pace with the same period last year. The unaudited net profit of RMK for the first six months amounted to EUR 7.1 million.
The main works done in the state forest in the second quarter were traditionally related to reforestation. “For the second year in a row already, we have significantly increased the volume of reforestation and planted over 16 million plants," explained Aigar Kallas, Chairman of the Management Board of RMK, and added that in the autumn, RMK will plant about 800,000 spruce sets as well into the state forest. “All together, we will plant over 3.5 million more plants than last year and have employed 1,500 more people for reforestation works for a specified term,” Aigar Kallas added.

RMK earned the majority of the revenue from the sale of timber and wood chips. In six months, RMK sold 1.33 million cubic metres of timber for a total of EUR 56 million. The average timber sales price turned out to be EUR 42.1 per cubic metre, which is 4.6% less than in the same period last year. In the first half-year, cutting waste and wood chips were sold in the volume of 0.21 million cubic metres for EUR 7.1 million. The average sales price amounted to EUR 33.2 per cubic metre.

To enable people to purchase firewood and timber for a good price, RMK sells cutting rights for growing forest to private persons, and the volume of this has significantly increased compared to the first half-year of 2011. In the first half-year of 2012, the sales volume of cutting rights amounted to 25,837 cubic metres (EUR 11.2/m3). Compared to the same period last year, when cutting rights were sold in the volume of 17,322 cubic metres (EUR 8.9/m3), this is 49.2% more.

In the budget for 2012, RMK forecasts sales revenue for this year to be EUR 128.9 million and profit to be EUR 9.7 million.
