27.03.2007 - RMK to participate in the training programme of MTÜ Ökokratt 29.09

On 27 March, MTÜ Ökokratt will begin a four-month environmental education project The Forest Teaches, the purpose of which is to acknowledge how everyday consumption decisions influence the environment. Within the framework of the project, training seminars will be held in eight different places in Estonia for approximately 300 teachers and officials involved in child work.

Among other topics, the foresters of RMK will give an overview of sustainable forest management. RMK also supports the event financially.

The educational and municipality officials participating in the seminars will organise an environment week in schools and kindergartens. In total, approximately 23,000 children learn in these educational institutions across the 79 municipalities in 15 counties. The project will culminate in May with the Clean Forest Parties organised in Paunküla, Nõo, Toila and Haapsalu, which will be attended by the children of the educational institutions participating in the project, and will end on 9 June with a summary conference in the opera theatre Estonia, which will be attended by all the teachers and municipality specialists participating in the project.

MTÜ Ökokratt has been organising such environmental education projects since 1999. The biggest cooperation partners of Ökokratt are SA KIK, the Ministry of the Environment and AS Tallinna Vesi.
