Restocking juvenile fish

Salmonidae have been raised in Põlula since the Põlula Fish Rearing Centre in 1994 was founded until today — mainly salmon, but also sea trout and, to a lesser extent, brown trout and whitefish. Rivers are restocked with juvenile fish to restore Estonian fish stocks.

In total, more than five million juvenile fish have been released into natural bodies of water in Estonia — salmon starting from 1997, sea trout from 2001, brown trout between 2001–2005 and whitefish from 2016.

Salmon

Salmon released into rivers from the Põlula Fish Rearing Centre between 1997–2021, by age (pc.):

• one year and two summer old fish – 2 415 000
